Overcoming disabilities: Rising to the occasion
When disabilities arise, it’s hard to think about how to find a job and get life back to normal. Bob had received two kidney transplants, a quadruple bypass and had both legs amputated below the knee. He also had portions of two fingers amputated and was unable to do his previous job because of his physical challenges.
One of the WorkSource Oregon’s in-network partner, Oregon Vocational Rehabilitation Services (OVRS) determined that Bob would need a less strenuous physical job. But, in order to find employment, he needed to increase his keyboarding and office skills.
The partners at WorkSource Clackamas designed a training plan and were able to provide training at Computer Skills Plus, Inc. Once Bob completed the six-month Office Specialist Program, he was able to begin his job search and successful landed a job at Audatex, after an intense three month job search. Bob loves his job and he is excited about having new marketable skills and about being employed full-time once again.
