Language classes making a huge difference
When Angela came to the U.S. in 2004, she didn’t speak English at all. “Because my English wasn’t good, I had to take a job that pays the minimum wage,” said Angela. It was difficult to find a better job because of my language barrier.”
Angela enrolled in English as a second language classes through WorkSource Clackamas’ network of partners. Once she got to the advance level, she was able to seek out better work experience. Angela now works at Clackamas Community College as part of the clerical staff, while she continues to go to college and advance her skill set.
