Coaching, Encouraging and Communicating

My name is Mike Shelley and for over 20 years I was employed by Joes Sports Outdoor and Moore (GI Joes).  In April of 2009,  Chapter 11 loomed large in our future. I attended the session on campus by WorkSource Clackamas Rapid Response Team and after my displacement form the company at the first of May, I attended the workshops offered by WorkSource Clackamas. Their helpful sessions moved me into the world of a dislocated worker searching for work after 20 years. To my great excitement, I have again entered the work world as the Peer Advocate for Team Joes. I am using skills acquired in a parallel career path to my work with Joes, but largely had been  unused in the workplace. Using these skills I am now coaching, encouraging and communicating ( written and verbal) to former members of Team Joe's, acting as their liaison to assist them in finding assistance here at WorkSource Clackamas to upgrade their great skills so to again become a viable member of workforce.
